Georgia, Why Is It So Hard To Renew My License This Year?

The Secretary of State (SOS) is still in the process of updating all of their online portals and accounts for you. I am sure that once things settle down, things will get so much better! 

If you have tried to call the SOS, you may have experienced a "please call back later" response. Many people are frustrated as their time-sensitive questions go unanswered. It is frustrating.

This portal and account software update will positively affect the user experience of all license types across the state whether it be real estate licenses, lawyers, etc. The unfortunate thing for cosmetologists is that this update in their system has come at the time for our renewal. So, we are called to be the patient ones :-) ! 

But as a result, the Board has extended the deadline for renewal from March 31 to April 30 this year. So they understand what hardship this is causing and as a result, they have extended the renewal period. They know this is not fun for us and they are aware of the fact that the SOS hasn't made it easy for cosmetologists during this time.

With that said, you do have until April 30 to get renewed. However, it's best to go ahead and get the CE you need and get the renewal process started. All of our 2024-25 course numbers will be on your certificate(s) that will be in your account once you complete your online course.
