Do I have to complete all of my continuing education in one session?

    -INSTRUCTORS are required to complete 15 hours. 7.5 hours may be obtained online.

Illinois

How many hours of Cosmetology CE hours am I required to complete?

Cosmetologists, Instructors and Barbers- 14 Hours

Estheticians, Nail Technicians and Hair Braiders- 10 Hours

When does my Illinois board of cosmetology license expire?

Cosmetologists, Instructors and Estheticians- September 30 of odd years.

Barbers- July 31 of odd years

Hair Braiders and Nail technicians- October 31 of even years.

Can I complete all 10-14 hours of CE for Illinois online?

North Carolina

    -INSTRUCTORS licenses are 2-year periods, and therefore 16 hours are required.

Ohio

How many hours of cosmetology and barber CE am I required in Ohio?

You are required to complete 4 hours total. 3 hours must be completed by an Ohio board-approved cosmetology and barber CE provider (that's us!). 1 hour is delivered for free by the Ohio cosmetology and barber board. All 4 hours of Ohio CE can be completed online.

How do I complete the Ohio cosmetology and barber board 1-hour Laws and Rules Course for free?

That course can be completed directly through the CE Broker website. You will need to create an account with them or just log back in if you have an account. You can get that course by going HERE, and clicking the CE Broker drop down and following the instructions.

South Carolina

How long will it take to receive my certificate from the University of South Carolina?

-You can expect the certificate to arrive in the mail within 2-3 weeks. You will need to keep the certificate in a safe place for no less than 4 years.

How many hours of continuing education am I required?

-You must complete a total of 4 hours of continuing education during your 2-year license period which can all be completed online with us!

When is the deadline to have my continuing education completed?

-You are required to renew your license as an RC, NT, ES, IRC, INT, or IES in South Carolina on or before 11:59 p.m. March 9th of every odd numbered year, in order to continue providing cosmetology and related services in this state..

Please note: If this is your first licensing period, you are not required to complete continuing education. If this is not your first licensing period, you must complete 4 hours of approved South Carolina Board of Cosmetology continuing education classes prior to renewing your license.

What am I required to do after I take online courses?

-USC will mail you a certificate  in the mail within 2-3 weeks. They will also send your hours over to LLR. Once the hours show up in your account with LLR, you can renew your license. The certificate from USC is only needed for proof if LLR didn’t upload your hours to your account online with them. You will need to keep the certificate in a safe place for no less than 4 years. What do I do if I am transferring my license to South Carolina?

If you are in need of a South Carolina "endorsement" class, or simply put, needing to transfer your license to South Carolina, you will need to complete a board approved 4-hour CE course. This is not a certain type of course that is just for license transfer. This is any currently approved CE course that all other licensees must take as well. Once you complete the course, the University of South Carolina will mail you a certificate of completion. Once you receive that certificate in the mail, you will use it to show LLR (Labor and Licensing Regulation) that you completed the course. Once you pay your license fee to them, they will mail your license to you. You can choose from a list of our South Carolina cosmetology board-approved courses HERE!

Texas

How many hours of cosmetology CE am I required in Texas?

4 hours, and it can be completed online right HERE with us. You must complete your Texas CE cosmetology continuing education with an approved TDLR provider.

When is the deadline to complete CE hours in Texas?

Licenses are issued at different times and you are required to complete your CE hours in time to renew your license by the expiration date every 2 years. The best way to know when your license expires in Texas is to refer to your actual license. Just make sure to give yourself enough time to complete your CE hours and also pay your renewal fee to the board.

Washington, D.C.

What if my license has expired?

-You have 60 days after your license expires to complete your CEU. However, you will have to pay the required late fee assessed by the Board. After 60 days, you may be required to apply for reinstatement of your license.
